Business Capital Preparation

Prepare for a productive funding conversation.

Organize the purpose, timing and business records providers commonly request later. Nothing is uploaded through this website.

Cadenhead Legacy Group is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. Financing is offered, approved and contracted by independent banks, lenders or funding providers on their own terms. This is a conversation request — no financial information is collected through this website.

Before the conversation

Bring clarity, not a perfect package.

You do not need to send documents through the website. Start by writing down what the business is trying to do, when it needs to happen and how the move is expected to help.

Preparation checklist

What to organize for yourself.

  1. 01

    The business move

State the purpose in one sentence, the estimated amount needed and the timing.

  2. 02

    How the money creates value

Explain whether it adds revenue, capacity, efficiency or stability, and when the benefit should begin.

  3. 03

    Basic business history

Know the legal business name, ownership, time in business, industry and primary operating location.

  4. 04

    Revenue and cash-flow pattern

Understand recent revenue, seasonality, major customer concentration and the timing of deposits and expenses.

  5. 05

    Current obligations

List existing business debts, leases and other recurring commitments for your own review.

  6. 06

    Supporting records

A provider may later request business bank statements, tax returns, financial statements, debt schedules, invoices, equipment quotes or purchase documents. Share them only directly with the provider, through its secure portal or another secure method the provider approves.

  7. 07

    Your comparison questions

Ask about proceeds, total repayment, payment frequency, fees, APR or factor rate, collateral, guarantees and prepayment terms.

General preparation, not a lender's list

Every lender sets its own requirements.

The checklist on this page is general preparation that helps almost any funding conversation. It is not a list of what a particular bank, lender or funder will require. Requirements differ by provider, by financing structure and by business, and a provider may ask for more, less or different information.

Gather what you reasonably can, keep it organized for yourself and share records only after you know who is asking for them, why, and through what secure method.

Preparation by purpose

What to think through for each kind of move.

Equipment

Replacing, upgrading or adding equipment the business depends on.

  • What the equipment is, whether it is new or used, and the vendor quote
  • What it replaces or adds, and how it affects capacity, revenue or cost
  • How long you expect to use it
  • Whether owning or leasing fits the way you plan to use it

Expansion

Adding people, capacity, services or a build-out in space the business already leases.

  • What is expanding and the estimated cost of each part
  • When each cost occurs and when the benefit should begin
  • The staffing, equipment or inventory the expansion needs
  • How the business will operate while the work is under way

Working capital

Covering a temporary cash-flow gap, seasonal need, inventory purchase or growth period.

  • What creates the gap: seasonality, customer payment timing, growth or a one-time cost
  • How large the gap is and how long it usually lasts
  • When incoming revenue is expected to close it
  • Whether the need is recurring or one time

A new location

Opening another operating location: build-out, equipment, inventory and opening working capital.

  • The status of the location and the opening timeline
  • Estimates for build-out, equipment, inventory and opening costs
  • How long the location may take to support itself
  • How the existing business will support the opening period

Buying a business, receivables and large orders follow the same pattern: describe the purpose, the amount and timing, and how the move supports repayment. See every business need →

Questions to consider

Answer these for yourself before seeking capital.

Clear answers make any conversation shorter and more useful. None of them need to be sent through this website.

  1. What exactly will the money pay for, and what does each part cost?
  2. When is the money needed, and what happens if it arrives later?
  3. How will this move add revenue, capacity, efficiency or stability?
  4. How will the business make the payments, including in a slow month?
  5. What would you do if the full amount is not available?
  6. Which terms matter most to you: payment size, total cost, term length or flexibility?
  7. Do you understand every cost, including fees, and the total amount you would repay?

A useful first call

Three things to be ready to explain.

  1. PurposeWhat the business is trying to accomplish.
  2. TimingWhen the funds would be needed and why.
  3. Repayment planHow the business expects the move to support repayment.

Funding preparation questions

Common preparation questions.

Do I need every document before a first conversation?

No. Start with the purpose, the estimated amount and the timing. Records come later, only if a provider asks for them, and they go directly to the provider through its secure portal or another secure method the provider approves, not through this website.

Will every lender ask for the same documents?

No. Each bank, lender or funder sets its own requirements, and they differ by financing structure and by business. The checklist on this page is general preparation, not a promise of what any provider will request.

Can I upload documents through this website?

No. Do not submit bank statements, tax returns, account numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, credit information, identification documents or other financial files through this website.

How should I estimate the amount I need?

Build it from quotes, estimates or invoices for what the money will pay for, then note when each cost occurs. A clear breakdown is more useful than a round number.

What should I compare between offers?

Compare the proceeds you receive, the total amount repaid, payment size and frequency, all fees, APR or factor rate, collateral, any personal guarantee and prepayment terms.

After the conversation

What happens next, and what stays private.

Who you work withYour initial conversation is with Cadenhead Legacy Group. If an introduction to a provider may be appropriate, we will identify the provider and tell you whether the provider relationship is held by Cadenhead Legacy Group or the affiliated company, Gulf Coast Merchant Services. We will obtain your permission before sharing any information about you or your business with that provider.

Credit reviewCadenhead Legacy Group does not check your credit. If you later apply with a provider, that provider may review business and personal credit, which can include a hard inquiry. Ask the provider how and when it will review credit before you apply.

Sharing informationWe share information about you or your business with a provider only with your permission. Financial documents must be submitted directly to the provider through its secure portal or another secure method the provider approves—not through this website and not by email to Cadenhead Legacy Group or Gulf Coast Merchant Services.

FeesWe do not charge an upfront fee or application fee for a Business Capital conversation or introduction. Any separate paid consulting engagement would have its own written scope and disclosed fee. A provider may charge its own fees, which it sets and must show in its own documents.
